Biography
Cunningham Pathology, LLC., a Sonic Healthcare Anatomic Pathology Practice, is privileged to have Melissa Riley Dillard, M.D., join its dynamic medical staff. Dr. Dillard has an extensive academic, teaching, and medical professional background.
Dr. Dillard completed her Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Berry College of Mount Berry, Georgia. Subsequently, she received her medical degree from the St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She began her postgraduate training with an anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, department of pathology, followed by a dermatopathology fellowship at the Cockerell Dermatopathology/UT Southwestern Medical Center of Dallas, Texas.
Upon completion of her post-graduate training, Dr. Dillard held clinical and teaching positions in hospitals and universities across the south central/southeast U.S. She was a dermatopathology lecturer to UT Southwestern, University of North Texas, and Baylor dermatology residents. She was a dermatopathologist and pathologist for Mid-Florida Pathology, and a dermatopathologist for SkinPath Solutions, Skin Diagnostics
Group, P.C., and CytoPath, P.C. before transitioning to her position as a dermatopathologist and ENFD biopsy specialist at Cunningham Pathology, LLC.
Over the years, Dr. Dillard has developed extensive academic and professional experience. She holds medical research publications, articles, and abstracts in peer-reviewed medical journals, in addition to giving oral and poster presentations at professional medical meetings, seminars, and conferences. She is an active member of the College of American Pathologists, and the International Society of Dermatopathology.
Dr. Dillard holds full medical licensure and is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, and dermatopathology.
