Biography

Cunningham Pathology, a Sonic Healthcare anatomic pathology practice is privileged to include Delicia Munfus-McCray, M.D., Ph.D., as a member of our medical staff. Dr. Munfus- McCray has an extensive academic background with impressive professional experience.

Dr. Munfus-McCray graduated from the University of Alabama Birmingham School of Medicine with her Doctor of Philosophy degree in microbiology. Here, she went on to receive her medical degree.

Dr. Munfus-McCray later finished a four-year anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, during which she was the recipient of the Excellence in Clinical Research Award and served as chief resident in her final year. She then completed a pediatric pathology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania.

Upon completing her postgraduate training, Dr. Munfus-McCray began working with Aurora Diagnostics, where she has spent her entire professional career. She was an Adult and Pediatric Pathologist at LMC Pathology Services until 2017, and has served as a Pediatric Pathologist with Cunningham Pathology ever since.

Dr. Munfus-McCray is a member of the College of American Pathologists, the Society for Pediatric Pathology, and the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology. She holds full medical licensure in the states of Alabama and Florida. She is board certified in pediatric pathology and anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology.

Dr. Munfus-McCray has authored and co-authored many abstracts and articles that have subsequently been published in peer-reviewed medical journals. She has frequently given oral and poster presentations at universities and professional medical conferences alike.
